The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; Psalms 19:7-8
Do I really believe that God will do in me what I cannot do? Through the powerful truth he reveals what human nature is like apart from His grace. I see myself through his Word and undergo transformation by his Word. The character of God’s Word meets my needs.
His powerful truth frees me from my obsession with apprehension. I will remember God’s words of assurance and take a deep spiritual breath; then I will be full of courage. The only way to remove the fear from life is to listen to God’s assurance to me through his Word.
There are times when God has to force me to hear His words . . . when He can no longer allow me to ignore His words . . . for my own good. When those times come, he draws me aside to revive me by his perfect Word. His Word is perfect at bringing me back home, to himself. He rescues me from working for him instead of with him.
His powerful truth enriches my abiding awareness of Him which continually pushes itself to the forefront of my life. Battles are won there. Comfort is found there. “God is our refuge…” (Psalm 46:1). Nothing can break through His shelter of protection. Protection is found there. And, it is there that the Lord tells me of His joys. This is intimacy with the Almighty. We share our hearts with each other. The tiny things show His amazing intimacy — He knows every detail of my life. His powerful truth, through his Word, revealing his heart.
Lord of truth, thank you for revealing yourself generally, without words in your creation. Thank you for revealing yourself specifically, with words in your precious Word.
