‘Oia’i’o (authenticity)

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35

The true expression of Christian character is not in good-doing, but in God-likeness. Oswald Chambers

I can possibly imitate behavior but not nature. Eventually my true nature is revealed. In fact, I think times of need are used by God to reveal the real me. If I am becoming more and more like Christ, I will more consistently behave more and more like him. So, the real issue of maturity is not trying to master the right behaviors but submitting to the Lord and his Word which he uses to transform my heart.

‘Oia`i`o means firmly and certainly true, genuine and faithful.

Authenticity needed

The heart is revealed

Lord, help me remember that the journal to maturity is not mastering mechanics. It requires a change of heart.
