My Strength and my Song

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” – Isaiah 12:2

What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “The LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.” – Isaiah 14:32

God is my victory, deliverance, Savior, Jesus. The word for salvation is yĕšûʿâ where the names of Joshua and Jesus derive. My God is the victorious, delivering, Savior Jesus.

He is my strong refuge and fortress so I need not fear. All other fortresses will fail in providing what my Jesus can.

Hohensalzburg Fortress, built in 1077 by Archbishop Gebhard, considerably enlarged by Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach (1495-1519), largest, fully-preserved fortress in central Europe. During its long history the Hohensalzburg Fortress has always remained unconquered by enemy troops. (Courtesy Salzburg info)
The Salzburg fortress is an amazing place. I have walked through its corridors and viewed the countryside from its walls. As strong and impenetrable as it is, it submits to my Fortress.

He is my joyful song. The notes and the lyrics are His and about Him. I have no other song to sing; I need no other song.

He alone stands as my victory so nothing can conquer me. He alone stands as my fortress so nothing can frighten me. He alone stands as my song so nothing can steal my worship.

Lord, thank you for certain victory through your strength. Thank you for the unique song I can sing every day.
