In that day is a common phrase in Isaiah. In fact, we see it appearing almost 50 times. God’s timing is perfect in every situation. His grace was extended up to the day. His judgment was enacted on the day. He controls the days.
He also allows things to go only so far before stepping in.
For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge; therefore, though you plant pleasant plants and sow the vine-branch of a stranger, though you make them grow on the day that you plant them, and make them blossom in the morning that you sow, yet the harvest will flee away in a day of grief and incurable pain. – Isaiah 17:10-11
Why go our own way? Why choose to live apart from the Lord? Why try to live independently with our own strategy and plan? May God use this day to bring us closer to him. May we use this day to run into his refuge.
