Perfect peace

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3

Perfect peace – the Hebrew word shalom.

Mind – our mental inclinations, expressed through what we strive after

Stayed – to unflinchingly support and sustain so that we remain firm and unshaken

hero_squaw-nightShalom offers no other peace but that which is perfect. When I open my hands and entrust to my Lord what I am holding or that which is trying to shake me, my thoughts and actions are unflinchingly supported and sustained by him so that I can remain firm and unshaken. The Lord never promised to keep me from life’s temblors; he did promise that I can remain secure when I simply trust.
