By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us…we find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand… Romans 5:1-2
What God wants for us meets what we have always hoped for! Our hearts are aligned, finally. What hope this gives me when I think my heart will never be totally aligned to his. One day, it will be.
Tom Landry, then coach of the Dallas Cowboys, was asked his definition of coaching. “My job is to get a bunch of guys to do something they don’t want to do to accomplish what they have always wanted.” Is this not what God is always doing?
A good friend told me, “Mostly what God does is love us.” His work of loves aligns my heart to his and changes my desires to his. I am so glad the journey to his desires is a journey to that which I have always wanted. Perhaps only he knows what that is.
Lord, I want my heart aligned as close to yours as possible. Help me let go of my heart and embrace yours. Help me to trust in you and your unexpected ways. Give me the heart to accept discipline, which leads me to your heart.
