Safe and nourishing

“What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13

Regardless how earnestly a child might ask for something, if it will harm or weaken him, a wise parent will not give what is requested. This parental love is certainly found in the prayer relationship between me and my Father. I often ask amiss, not knowing. But my Father knows what will keep me safe and nourish my soul. So, prayer becomes an entrusting of my need to the only one who will be trustworthy with it. He knows what will keep me safe and cared for.

Father, thank you for your answers to my prayers. Thank you for being so trustworthy with my life and needs.
